Flower pots are useful for houseplants, or they can be used on their own as stand-alone décor items. Flower pots can be expensive, but you can make them as well. And, making a flower pot means it gets a level of customization that a store-bought pot can never achieve. The easiest type to make is a cement flower pot.
Instructions as follows:
Firstly, find a ventilated space to begin the project.
Secondly, start with a bag of cement mix and a disposable bucket. Pour the cement mix into the bucket, and add the appropriate amount of water to the mix. Read the bag to determine how much water you need for the amount of cement mix you intend to use.
Thirdly, stir the mixture slowly as you gradually add the correct amount of water.
Fourthly, continue to stir until the mixture is about the thickness of pancake batter. Take a empty bucket and rub the inside with some silicon spray. Pour the cement into the bucket, filling it about halfway.
Fifthly, spray a small flower pot, or something approximating the size of a flower pot, with silicon. Then place it into the cement. Allow the cement to harden overnight.
Sixthly, take the flower pot out of the dried cement, and slide the new flower pot out of the bucket. The new flower pot should be smooth and ready for a coat of paint.
Seventhly, coat the outside of the pot using any type of paint, even house paint. If you plan to use the pot outdoors, use a more durable paint.
Tips & Warnings
When making the cement, avoid stirring up too many air bubbles. They can ruin the look of the finished product .
